Brighton Dancing

In Brighton's birthday package from my family, there was this Leap Frog farmhouse. It goes on the fridge and has a whole bunch of magnets to put animal heads to the matchings bodies. When you push the buttons, it plays music, which gets Brighton moving! She's always been one to bounce when a toy makes music, and she's been doing this all night, so I had to get her while she was in a good mood.

Lopez Island

Brighton and I went on the road with Dale on Friday because he was going to Lopez Island, where I've never been! This is at the ferry terminal on our side of the water. We had to get up so early, and this is the sun, just starting to peak over the mountains.

This is the huge ferry that we got to ride our car onto. It's humongous! As we walked into the sitting area on top, I thought of Batman: The Dark Knight and was worried there might be a ferry of convicts that might try to blow us up. We were safe, phew! (If you haven't seen that movie, you NEED to, and then you'll understand just how ridiculous that whole scene really is.)

Brighton was crabby and wiggly on the ride, and this is daddy holding her because mommy was too tired, hungry, and crabby herself to deal with it.

Early Birthday Presents!

Grandma Helen sent Brighton a birthday package! It was full of gifts from the whole family, and Brighton had tons of fun ripping into it and pulling out all the awesome stuff!

Thanks so much Hutchings family!

Brighton Drinks Some Milk!

I decided to stop nursing Brighton about a week and a half ago, and put her on good ol' heffer milk! She's only had water to drink, so this was a little new in her sippy cup. Here's her first reaction. What do you think? And we've still had no progress as of yet...

Playgroup

Brighton and I went to play group yesterday and it was just a walk on this paved trail, called Centennial Trail. We stopped off at the little lake for snacks and lunches and Brighton was getting restless in the stroller. All the other kids can walk and I'm thinking she was jealous. I know it's gross, but what are you gonna do? I set her in the rocks to play.
She had fun picking them up and throwing them, kicking her feet in them, and crawling around.
Of course, as I snap away on the camera, she decides to stick one in her mouth. Gross.

Brighton's Bright Outfit

I made this outfit for Brighton yesterday from Burdastyle.com. They have a ton of fun stuff, not so much for babies, but this was a new pattern they added. It said the sizes were from 2T to 5T so I decided I would make the 2T so she could wear it sooner (plus, I just like to practice sewing). I have no idea what I did wrong but it barely fits her right now. And the pants were supposed to be capris, but came out as booty shorts. Oh well, at least babies don't have to be modest. Dale said she looks like a clown, but I think it's fun. Plus it was really cheap fabric that I found at the second hand store. You can't beat that for practice.
Playing in the grass

Well, if we ever have another child, and it's a girl, she'll get to play in this little outfit for a little bit longer than Brighton!

Kim's New Hair!

So, I'm in total shock, but here's the new me!

Kim's Getting Her Hair Cut!

I've been growing my hair out for about two and a half years (thank you pregnancy hormones for making it grow even faster!), and have finally gotten up the courage to chop it off and donate it. It's not as long as I was wanting to have it before I cut it, but I can't stand it any longer! A lady in the ward is going to do it, and I'm headed off there as soon as Dale gets home from Mutual! I only hope I don't cry. It's just hair, right? About 16 inches of it... Wish me luck!

And PS- If you're ever planning on donating your hair, make sure you do some research about the companies that you can send it to. Some are better than others, and some may donate to causes that are important to you. Locks of Love is a popular one I'm sure you've all heard of, but it might not be the best choice for you.

Brighton's First French Braid

I thought I'd give it a try, her hair is getting so long! The underneath part is still too short, but I think it turned out pretty good for trying to braid hair on a squirming baby. Only a little bit longer and we'll be able to do braids all the time! I can't wait!

Playing in Her Cherry Outift

This first video, is just of Brighton playing. I love it because right in the beginning you can see her grunt. This is what she does when she falls down, gets something taken away, drops a toy, or when I tell her no. This is what she does all day. I clean up her tupperware and plastic dishes mess at least 20 times a day.

I like this video just because she is talking a lot!

Brighton and Sawyer Playing

Brighton and Sawyer were having such a good time playing together. She just loves her mup!

Playing in the Bathtub

We got some videos of Brighton playing in the bathtub the other day and I couldn't decide which one I loved more, so you can see them all and enjoy them! She loves her baths!

Puyallup Fair

So Dale scored us some free entrance tickets for the Puyallup fair (a lady that works in one of the offices Dale visits has a daughter that shows cows there) and we went this past Saturday. It was so fun to check out all the vendors, play some carnival games, watch the animal shows and people watch (which is, of course, our favorite!). The above picture is something quite amazing. As soon as I pulled out the camera, he started cleaning himself, so I couldn't get a good face shot so you could see what it is. You're probably thinking a fluffy little white dog? Perhaps a Maltese (which is what I would have guessed if I hadn't been surrounded by cages and cages)? It's a bunny. That's right, an incredibly hairy rabbit. Weird.
Dale decided he wanted to go down the big slide. You can see him at the very top, far left, getting ready to slide!
He's sliding!
Taking a stop for some lunch!

Eating Breakfast

This is Brighton eating breakfast on Sunday. I just love how happy she is to be eating! I think it's her most favorite time of the day- she smiles more, I have tons of pictures of her eating, and she talks the most when she has food in her mouth. And all those little teeth are just precious!

Yay For Fall!

I'd have to say that Fall is my most favorite time of the year. I just love how all the trees change colors. I love decorating in fall colors, and especially with pumpkins. I love candy corn! It only comes this one time a year! (Kind of how I used to like Easter for the Peeps, but now they have those all year- wonderful!) And I absolutely love Halloween. It's by far the best holiday. So, I've gotten started a little early (ok, a lot early), I know, but I couldn't resist. I saw this cute little candy corn garland on this blog (of course, I don't come up with the cute stuff, I only steal it...). I think it turned out really cute and is a totally cheap way to decorate!

Four Teeth!

Just wanted to share the mouth full of teeth that we have going on here. Nevermind the completely disgusting snotty nose, I was on top of it all day, I don't know what happened! Babies are so gross! It just makes me so sad that they have to go through some pretty horrible stuff to get those cute little teeth in. We have two others ones coming in that should break through the gums any moment.

Such a Little Lady

I've been wanting to share this funny little habit that Brighton has with you all, but she always crawls to me and attacks the camera when I try to get a picture. She was "reading" her books the other day, and sitting so still, that I was finally able to capture this cute little moment. She always (I'm using my poetic license here, but it seriously seems like always) crosses her legs and I love it! Here she is reading and then I had her sit in my lap so I could get a good one of her tootsies!

Just notice how she crosses her legs! I love it! It's my favorite little habit and I really hope for all our sakes that it doesn't ever stop!

Climbing the Stairs

So, now we have to baby gate the stairs. Honestly, I'm shocked it hasn't happened sooner. Brighton started chasing Dale up the stairs, so he grabbed the camera and I followed to make sure she didn't fall down. We had to keep coaching her up the stairs since she was getting frustrated really easily! Wonder where she gets that impatience from...
Halfway there!
Almost done!
We made it! First time up all the stairs!

First Known Photo of Michael Phelps

My mom sent me this a few weeks ago, and I planned on putting it up here for all to see. I have no idea why it's taken me this long to share it. But, there you go, the first photo of Michael Phelps. This is for all of you friends out there who are trying to have babies! Good luck!
