Cute New Belt

I've been wanting to make this belt ever since I stumbled upon it a few months ago, and finally got around to it this past week. Oh, and I got a massive haircut : )
I followed this tutorial and used some stash fabric and vinyl scraps leftover from a re-upholstery job. Check out her whole site- she's absolutely amazing. Why are there so many crafty and talented people? They just keep adding stuff to my "to-copy/do" list.

So cute! And the belt's not too bad either (totally kidding ;) ) Now go and make yourself one in every color!

Bib Necklace Knock-Off

This has been a project on my "To-Do" list for like 2 years, no joke. I'd been collecting the pieces for it once I saw this picture from Anthropologie:
Of course, I would never buy the necklace as it was well over $100 (I honestly can't remember how much it was, but I'm pretty sure it was in the vicinity of $200, which is just crazy!)
I wanted something to keep my hands busy while I sat- yes, I needed to just SIT- and I pulled this out and started to finally put it together.
I used leftover linen from other projects, and collected jewelry from the thrift store, and actually broke down and bought beads and rhinestones to match. I think this was definitely worth the wait, and it didn't cost me anywhere near $100!

I'm Not Dead...

I've been absent from the blog for FOREVER, I know. When I actually have a moment, I'm either trying to fit in some sewing or fitting in a run, or fitting in some food, or fitting in some shopping, or fitting in a visit to the park because there's FINALLY a sunny day and not really fitting in any computer time. Eventually we'll get back on track, but for now, it's gonna stay pretty sporadic, sorry to disappoint you all : )
I've started a fashion blog with some friends (not a public one, sorry, it's just for us) but wanted to share one of my latest refashions with you. This is the FIRST time I've even worn orange so it's kind of a big deal.

Story behind the shirt: I bought it white from Target a few years ago. I've gotten sick of all the white in my closet, so I decided to dye it. It wasn't supposed to be THIS orange- it's like a freakin' pumpkin! I was hoping it would have come out more of a burnt orange, but no such luck.
Once the dye job was over, I noticed the neckline was coming undone. It's kind of a sweater material, so it was starting to unravel! I bought orange thread to try and fix it and while it held together, it didn't look so nice. I was about to toss it when I was going through my fabric scraps and came across this long strip of fabric (I don't know my fabrics, how sad, and strange, is that?!) that's kinda silky and flowy... : ) I draped and sewed it down and was pretty dang proud of myself.
I miss you all, checking out your blogs, posting and reading comments. I love this little world we all share, where we can keep in touch and support one another. Thanks for checking in and I'll try to check in with you, too!
