Check this out!

30days: Just in time

I am IN LOVE with the 30 days blog, as I'm sure some of you are as well. So if you haven't checked it out in a while, there's this cute quiet book giveaway. The lady she's featuring is amazing! You've got to check out her cute stuff in her ETSY shop. I wish I was that amazing. But at least I'm amazing at stealing people's ideas and being able to make my own. That'll come in handy if I don't win the giveaway.

A Scary Treat!

Some friends of ours are having a Halloween pumpkin party in a few weeks, and we're supposed to bring some treats. While Dale and I immediately thought of a special cake, I was also thinking I could make some eyeballs to eat! Yummy! I've never made this recipe before, so I'm making some ahead of time, just to see how they turn out. And I think they're looking pretty fabulous for a first try! The above picture is of the "eyeball insides" and then below is the after!

Tasty, no?

A New Apron!

I've been working on an apron pattern for my mom and I was practicing by making one for myself first, since I don't have one and always borrow Dale's! I think it turned out really cute, with a pocket and everything! I hope mom likes hers as much as I like mine!

Brighton's Birthday Dress

So Brighton was so zonked at the end of her party, she couldn't really enjoy herself. But she still looks as cute as ever in her special party dress with matching hair pretties! We didn't really get too many good pictures of the dress, or any of the three of us (we should hire a photographer for our next bash!) so this is all I've got for now. Maybe when she wears it to church we'll have a photo shoot.

Brighton's Birthday Party!

So it turned out that the weather was going to get crummy exactly during the time that we planned to have Brighton's party. Go figure! But it actually turned out ok, even though we were planning on an outside party, and rushed to move it inside. Brighton's birthday bash was blue themed, so we decorated in blue all over! Well, and some B's too, that weren't blue... This is Katie and Jeff, and Brighton begging for food from Krystle. Notice everyone is wearing blue? It was planned. The basket on the table is full of bean bag party favors. Yay!

This is Brandon and Laura, also wearing blue, getting some beautiful food at the baked potato bar. Besides baked potatoes, we had a big salad, bananas, and bread and butter. All this topped off with some bottled water! Also hanging beautifully in the back of the buffet is the blue happy birthday sign that I made.

This was a blue birthday garland that I made for the special Brighton-palooza Bash.

And these are the beautifully chocolate with blue sprinkles cupcakes, complete with the dot toothpicks I made a while back. All the food was labeled with a blue "B is for..." sign and there were plenty of others lying around that also said, "B is for Brighton" and "The BIG One!"This is Brighton getting her very first birthday cupcake. She was so beyond tired (it was already 30 minutes past her bedtime by this time) that she didn't really know what to do, and she just picked at the frosting. I helped out a little by shoving a big hunk into her mouth, but she just wasn't as interested as we had hoped. Maybe we'll do it again...

Happy Birthday Brighton! We had so much fun at Brighton's Big One Blue Birthday Bash!

Brighton's Birthday Tutu

I have been wanting to get Brighton a tutu for a long time, she just isn't really big enough (yet) for one. But that doesn't mean she can't start her collection now! I saw this remnant for 20 cents (yes!) and figured I'd try it out and get some ideas of how to make one, how fluffy I want it, and whatever else you might think of when making a tutu. I learned a lot, but I think it's ok for a starter. She should probably learn to walk before I make it TOO fluffy. She can barely crawl in this one as it is. She just keeps yanking it and trying to take it off and screaming. She'll want it sooner than she thinks, though. Happy Birthday from Mommy!

Happy First Birthday Brighton!

I can't believe it's already been a whole year since I successfully pushed Brighton out into this world. She seemed so big to me then, a chubby baby with giant cheeks.

Ah, those first months of exhaustion. It was so fun!

And she really was so tiny! In the last year, we've become parents and made a couple sets of grandparents. We've changed millions (ok, maybe it was just thousands, but it seems like a lot) of diapers, worried that she wasn't rolling/crawling/cruising on time, obsessed about which hair style to go with on a daily basis (that was actually the fun part!), went through 3 bottles of shampoo, said the nursery rhymes/alphabet/animal sounds/counted to ten/and pointed to our body parts more in the last year than we probably ever did before, and learned more about love and patience and have grown so much closer as a family than we ever could without our wonderful little Brighton.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY, BRIGHTON! We know how lucky we are to have you in our eternal family! You make each day so much better! We love how happy you always are and your funny little sense of humor. Plus, you're a great dancer! Can't wait to see what toddler-hood will bring!

Pictures of my own to come soon...
